Now that the ancestors have passed, I am the holder of the memory.
ABOUT ME
I was born in 1954 in Georgetown, Guyana, and my story is deeply intertwined with my Jamaican and German roots, marked by two great tragedies: slavery and the Holocaust. Throughout my life, I have moved between the Caribbean and Europe, developing an artistic practice that engages with these memories, my identity, and the enduring traces of colonialism. My work stems from this duality, from questioning what it means to be descended from both histories, and from recognizing how the past continues to shape our present. From this perspective, my voice joins a broader conversation about memory, identity, and restorative justice in the Caribbean.
